These tasty baked beans are a favorite and regularly requested by my friends. This is a great option for meat eaters AND for vegetarians, if you just make the easy substitutes My vegetarian friends especially love them b/c I can easily make it vegetarian…and it’s not often they get “doctored” baked beans. ~~~ To make this recipe vegetarian, substitute Morningstar hamburger or sausage. It tastes GREAT!
Ingredients
1 large can baked beans (with or without pork)
1 medium onion, diced
2/3 cup spicy sausage (cut into chunks or crumbled) (vegetarian sausage or hamburger works great!)
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons vinegar
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 dash cayenne pepper
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350* F (175 degrees C)
In a large skillet, brown sausage and diced onion.
In casserole dish or dutch oven, combine all ingredients.
Cover and bake for one hour.
Enjoy with friends!
